Internships

Most employers – including AGH – consider practical work experience as important as a good GPA. Work experience, especially in your career field, means that you’re a proven employee and you have the skills expected for your degree.

If you’d like to experience public accounting, why not try it with a paid internship during the spring or summer semester at one of the largest CPA and advisory firms in the Midwest? AGH’s eight business divisions (including tax, assurance, employee benefits, outsourcing, corporate finance and family business development) and industry-specific areas of focus (including manufacturing, retail, banking, construction, government and not-for-profit) mean exposure to a wide variety of potential career paths and types of clients.

And as you’re rounding out your resume, you may also be eligible for college credit.

No copy machine duty here — our accounting interns are full-fledged members of the staff with client responsibilities. They typically work a minimum of 40 hours a week, with some travel. Many choose to devote their spring semester to AGH, then return to college for a December graduation, beginning the job search when many accounting firms increase hiring for the audit and tax busy season in January. A shorter summer internship is also available.

But some interns’ job search finishes early. Our top students often complete their internship with a firm job offer upon graduation already in hand – an offer that may include graduate tuition reimbursement.

Plan your internship opportunity early! AGH will recruit and evaluate intern candidates each fall, investing in significant testing and interviewing of the top applicants to ensure a good match and a worthwhile experience for each intern. Internship offers are made in mid-October for the following spring and summer semester. Click here to download a copy of our internship flyer.

If you're still undecided about whether public accounting is right for you or unable to commit a semester for an internship, consider attending AGH's Young Leader VIPreview program. The VIPreview is a chance for top undergraduate students to get an advance look at what a future in public accounting holds. This intense, one-day program is designed to give future leaders the chance to gain some real-world experience, tour a manufacturing facility, and network with public accounting professionals. AGH invites promising, talented, motivated undergraduate leaders who are considering pursuing a degree in accounting to apply for the VIPreview. Click here to download an application for the VIPreview program in May. Deadline to apply for the program is April 30.
