Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. offers both new graduates and experienced professionals the combination of a large firm with multiple areas of practice and specialized expertise and the local ownership of an independent, entrepreneurial firm with deep Kansas roots.

With more than 100 staff and eight business divisions at its single Wichita location, Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. provides multiple career tracks where employees can learn and grow. In addition to tax and assurance, AGH’s services also encompass family business and organizational development, state and local tax, corporate finance, outsourcing services, employee benefits, and technology consulting. As well, specialized teams focus on industries such as construction, manufacturing, banking, and milling – providing constant opportunities to gain new experience and add skills.

AGH invests heavily in training to maintain and build staff knowledge and ability, helping you meet the required 40 hours of continuing practice education (CPE) all CPAs are required to earn annually. Unlike many independent firms, AGH has access to national training developed through the RSM McGladrey Network, one of the largest affiliations of CPA and advisory organizations in the world.

The firm also leverages technology to eliminate and streamline routine aspects of accounting work, as well as enable team communication and document retrieval and sharing over multiple locations. AGH’s sophisticated technology platform supports paperless tax and audit functions, with a dedicated internal technology support team.

While the firm’s size allows tremendous opportunities for career growth within AGH, local ownership means that career growth doesn’t force you to move around the country in order to move up or into a new area of specialization. It also means that decisions about the firm are made – and lived with – by people just down the hall, rather than across the country. And that travel to clients generally means within the Midwest for a few days at a time, rather than weeks or months leaving on a plane every Sunday morning and returning Friday night.

Make no mistake: when we’re at work, we do work hard. But we also respect the need for a work-life balance that a year-round practice allows. Rather than burn out weeks or months at a time during the busiest tax and audit season, our professionals work more balanced schedules year-round: fewer hours than some other firms in peak season and not as few hours during off-peak, allowing a more even workload throughout the year.

We work hard — but we also play hard. Firm-wide events and charitable support are constants of professional life at AGH (visit the Community page to find out more). During the past three years, AGH has been nominated for (and has twice been declared) one of Wichita's "Best Places to Work" by the Wichita Business Journal.

If you like to work hard, play hard and be successful, consider joining the Allen, Gibbs & Houlik, L.C. team.
